Often we’re told that when we feel like we don’t have all we want or need, that we should think of the starving people in third world countries, or on people who have severe disabilities, so that by comparison, our woes seem trivial. It occurred to me today to instead focus on the abundance that we do have, rather than on what we are lacking. So, I made a list of everything that proves that the universe is incredibly abundant. Some of the items on the list (not in any particular order):
• The best husband in the world
• Beautiful leafing trees
• Awesome, loving sons
• Precious grandchildren
• A big, loving family
• Eyes to appreciate the beauty around me
• My House
• Butterflies
• My laptop that serves me well
• A career that motivates and delights me, and helps other people in the process
• White puffy clouds against a dome of blue
• Artistic talent
• Adorable dogs
• Spirit to appreciate the wonder surrounding me
• A wonderful, close, funny and supportive sister
• Dear, delightful friends
• Infinity of flowers
• Lots of energy to do what I want
The list went on and on. There were so many indications of the abundance of the universe! It helped me to really realize that I have all I want, all I need to fully live this present moment. And, the present is all we really have, isn’t it?
